I want to use this post to make a quick comparison of most of the online Accounting softwares available for the UK businesses.
The list is in Alphabetical order and I’ll keep updating on a regular basis as changes occur regularly in this industry. So do visit again and if you find I have missed out a software or had any information wrong please email me. Thanks.

Jon Behr – CEO and founder of AccountsPortal, after graduating with an honours degree in finance, embarked on a career in corporate finance, specialising in financial modelling, accounting and systems development. In 2008, left full time employment and started contracting… (During this period found the need for an online Accounting package).. Development started in earnest in 2009, and we opened our doors at the start of 2010.
“AccountsPortal” means Tristev Finance Limited (T/A AccountsPortal), a company registered in England and Wales (Registration Number: 06207637) whose registered office is Unit 15, Thompson Road, Whitehills Business Park, Blackpool, FY4 5PN.

5. Bank – Bank statement Import, Paypal feed or import, Automatic Matching, Easy Reconciliation Process
6. Sales Invoices- Own Logo, PDF Printouts, system for Recurring Invoices, emailing from the system.
7. Reports and data Export available in PDF, CSV and Excel.
8. VAT reports are available
9. Advance features – some good features here including ‘Price List Items’, ‘Chart of Accounts’, ‘User Permissions’, ‘Manual Journals’ etc.
10. The Dashboard – User friendly. There’s a basic horizontal Menu on the top with 6 options. Sales, Purchases, Banking, Contacts, Reports and Settings.

2. Clear Books.co.uk
Company Details-
The Clear Books journey began in 2008 and the story is similar to that of many of our small business customers. Founder, Tim Fouracre, started the company working on his own for 15 months from his living room.
After developing the concept of a SaSS based cloud accounting and invoicing software, Clear Books is formed as a joint venture between Tim Fouracre and Fubra Limited and is officially incorporated as a UK company on the 2nd July 2008.
WAKR! Holdings made an investment in Clear Books in September 2012. The company was founded by Tjeerd Kramer.

Company Details-
e-conomic is both the name of the online accouting system as well as the company behind it.
The company began in 2001 in Copenhagen and has since been adapted to nine different countries, including Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Finland and more.
Software:
1. Price plans – Small £20pm (up to 4k transactions) and unlimited £35 pm
2. Free Trial – you get 2 weeks trial period
3. Users – £7.50 for additional. Also, other add on costs e.g. £50 for Stock Management, £50 for Project Accounting.
4. Transactions – unlimited based on the price plans.
5. Bank – Bank Statement Import, Reconciliation Process
6. Sales Invoices- Own Logo, PDF Printouts,
7. Reports and data export available in PDF, CSV and Excel.
8. VAT reports are available.
9. Advance features- Most standard reports are available e.g. monthly P&L and Balance Sheet.
10. The Dashboard – There’s a basic horizontal Menu on the top with 3 options. Sales, Accounting and Reports. There is also a vertical Menu with further options.
